Trip to Jersey

Goodness, I am finally getting caught up on my blog. June 4-11, 2008, I went home to visit my family in Woodbury, NJ in the middle of a heat wave. There was a wedding (my cousin Lauren and new cousin in-law Keith) tied the knot and jumped the broom and there was a BBQ for yours truly. The wedding was very nice. Finally my cousin is very happy! Lord knows she deserves it. It was so hot outside that no one showed up until after 5 pm. We had ribs, chicken, burgers, hot dogs and my Mom's kick ass potato salad and lots more. I took a trip to Philadelphia with David (whom had gotten mistaken as the Limo driver at the wedding), saw my friends, family and my little great niece Janai (see picture below) and followed the play-offs! Go Boston! It was a nice time.

Pay someone to do it for you!

Oh, my Lord painting sucks. Today I started painting the walls of my house. Now I understand why people live with white walls. Don't get me wrong I love the color of my living area Gobi Desert, but what a hassle. It took six people to complete just the living area. The 9 feet ceilings are a killer. 1 coat, 2 coats, the edging, the taping and the touching up of the walls. STRESSFUL!
I would like to thank my friends Karen, Sadie, Gina her cute little son Lehem, Holly and Ann for helping me. Only four more rooms left to do. I don't want to think about the hallway and the bathrooms. This is more work than I planned it to be. Exhausted!

Not the Girl I use to Be!

Thursday was my friend's Shanda B-day and my friend Mike from Boston was in town to play hockey. We all met up at Devils Martini North (Shanda's friends the (girlz) and Mike's 9 hockey buddies.) (They were a blast!) The night was kind of fuzzy, but I remember having a great time until.......Vodka and I had a disagreement!
After a night drinking with new and old friends, I discovered I Am Not The Girl I Use to Be! I think a have developed an intolerance to Vodka. I don't quite get it. Me and Vodka use to kick it all of the time. When coupled with cranberry, sour mix, pineapple juice or even chilled with Apple Pucker we were always cool. It has taken me a full day to recover from Vodka. I am tired and sleepy. I don't know why Vodka is kicking my ass, but maybe if I hang out with Vodka more often we can get aquainted again. But no time soon!

I am a proud homeowner! Yippee!

Today I got the keys to my home. I'm so excited!!! My realtor called me at 3:45 pm and told me that the builder left my key in the outlet near the door. She says," Call me when you get the key. I agreed to do so. I arrived at my new address 8955 W. St. John Rd. at 4:30 pm and I looked in the electrical box. NO KEY! I called her and said, "Where is the key again?" She said, "The key is on top of the electrical socket near the front door. It has a plastic cover over it." So I open the the plastic cover and remove the key. As I am still talking with her on the phone, I see a bottle of wine, two wine glasses, a box of crackers, a small tile cutting board with a block of cheese, a cheese knife, a roll of Hillshire Farm summer beef and a card siting on the kitchen counter. I say to Glenda my realtor, "Oh Wow!, The builder left me all the things that I just told you in the prior sentence." I said, "That is so great! I'm so excited!" Glenda replied, "What else did they give you?" So I open the card and there's a $100.00 gift certificate to Home Depot! Then I really lose it. I began to read the card. It's says at the end. Thank you for letting us be a part of your big day. From Glenda and Jim.
I said, "Glenda you tricked me. Thank you so much! I you really didn't have to do that. She said, It was my pleasure. She and her husband gave me my first house warming gift. That just made my day better. I am still smiling!:)

After I finished talking with Glenda, I paused for a moment to take it all in. I started dancing around and singing, " I've got my own house, Do do dee dee dee" Just something silly that I thought of at the moment! I went from room to room inspecting everthing by turning on and off the light switches, testing the faucets and water tempetures, I examined the doors and base boards, and flushed all the toilets. I sat down on the floor in my greatroom, smiled.

Today was a good day!

The Woes of Purchasing My First Home

At this very moment I am suppose to be moving into my first home. I had plans of painting this weekend with four of my friends. The great room was going to be Gobi Desert and hallways & kitchen Raffia Cream, and my massage room Mystical Sea.

Question: Why don't I have the keys to my house?
Answer: Because the bank is slow as hell.

Apparently, you cannot sign and close with this bank on the same day. Bummer! Now I am a week behind on painting and moving in. I have to hustle this week. Pray for me. I can't wait to run down my hallway in my underwear and socks Yelling! "It's my house I and I bought it!" Independence Is GREAT!

In the words of Destiny's Child:
The shoes on my feet, I've bought it
The clothes I'm wearing, I've bought it
The house I live in, I've bought it
The car I'm driving ,I've bought it
I depend on me(I depend on me)
All the women who are independent, Throw your hands up at me!
